The symbolic meanings of the palm are manifold and originate in ancient Greek and Near East mythologies where the palm leaf variously symbolises Nike, the winged goddess of victory, triumph, peace and eternal life. 
 
The pleasing symmetrical design is rendered beautifully in basso- and mezzo-relievo carving and is a striking decorative piece in its own right but, as depicted, can be alternated with panels of the exclusive Palmette Shoot design, to create a flowing, continuous frieze suitable for display in interior or exterior settings.
