Stork Urn

crane vase.jpg

This exquisite and breathtaking piece depicts a pair of impressive storks with serpents coiled in their beaks.

The stork's power to destroy the venomous snake originates in the myth of Greek Goddess Hera and is said to symbolise felicity and fortune for the owner.  The design is a survivor of antiquity, being a close copy of a Roman urn which was, in turn, based on an ancient Greek original.

Standing at around three feet tall on its base and masterfully carved in stunning, Portland stone, this piece would make a commanding focal point for either a garden or grand interior space.
