Guilloche Fragment
An intriguing section of guilloche, an architectural ornament which originated in Ancient Assyria, shown here precisely hand-carved in natural English limestone.
This pleasing repeating motif features two intertwining bands encompassing a row of central concave 'eyes' and was popular in Rome and Greece throughout antiquity.
An odd number of repeating units ensures a sense of balance in this Classical piece.
