Acroterion Feature Light

Hand-Carved Acroterion Feature Light

The word acroterion comes from the Greek for 'summit' and it is indeed a Classical feature usually found at the top of the building, crowning the pediment of a grand facade and reaching for the heavens.

The lofty motif is brought down to Earth however in this re-imagining of it as an interior light feature.  The hand carved palmette is illuminated from its central point to accentuate the under-cutting in the stone surface and create yet more dramatic shadow.

For interiors that combine Classical and modern design sensibilities, this is the perfect statement lighting piece.
